The Russian Orthodox Church\\\'s Basic Teaching on Human Dignity, Freedom and Rights :

Throughout human history the understanding of what constitutes the human being has considerably influenced the way in which people have organized their private and public life. Despite the profound differences existing between particular civilizations and cultures, every one of them has some ideas of human rights and obligations.

Churches of Belarus: one against another:

In Belarus the relations between churches and the state are not determined by any isolated step but follow from a quite clear logic of the existent political regime. It is this regime that has given birth to a new wording of the Liberty of Conscience and Religious Organizations Law 2002 and, on the whole, created a conception of the state’s religious policy.

To Put the Clock Back:

On the day when the clock is put back Belarusian Orthodox Church is mourning for forgetfulness about saint martyrs. This day, the day of saint martyrs and witnesses of Belarusian land, is the longest day in a year.

BELARUS: KGB raid Moscow Patriarchate fellowship group:

When six KGB officers raided a prayer meeting of the Transfiguration Fellowship back in March at the home of Sergei Nesterovich in Gomel, this represented the first time to Forum 18's knowledge that adherents of the Orthodox Church under the Moscow Patriarchate have been targeted for their religious activity in Belarus since the Soviet period.

Paralysis of youth movement:

This year two annual events of Youth Association of Belarusian Orthodox Church – Orthodox youth meeting which was supposed to be held on the June 24-26th in Akolica hosted by military parish dedicated to John the Warrior, as well as Cross procession around Minsk-city which was to be held on the July 15-24th – were cancelled. What was the reason – the crisis of the organization, organizational carelessness of the responsible for the event people, relationships with church hierarchy or the position of state authorities?

Where, then, i s the Church?:

This was the question – a difficult and existential one – which we were reflecting on with some friends, during a discussion about the many problems the Church faces today, all over the world. Our involvement in Syndesmos offers us the possibility to meet people from many different places and backgrounds and to hear about the situation of their local communities. From all around comes one and the same concern: the Body of Christ is ill, most members fail to be a witness to love and unity, as commanded by Jesus Christ.

Presentation of paschal musical "One Life - one chance" was held by Art student initiative CREDO in filological faculty of Belarusian state university (6th of May). The same presentation was to be shown in Minsk state linguistic university on the 3rd of May but it was canceled by the administration. Original music was composed for the musical, during it fragmets from "Passions of Christ" movie were demonstrtated. The plot was about one guy who passed through temptations of power, reprobation and money and converted to Christ. The main role was presented by student from Nigeria Tary.

The Myrrh-weeping in Dzierhynsk continues:

These events seem to be perceived in two ways, one being that events as grace coming from God, as the healings seem to confirm, or a call from God to have all come to repentance.The official position that has been stated seems to be odd in its nature, mainly by the lack of information being released.

Dzierzhynsk. Let every human being keep silence:

This little town with hard name (in honour of Felix Dzierzhinsky, who was after the October revolution became the founder and developer of Secret Police Service), some 30 km (21 miles) from Minsk has recently attracted the attention of the entire Orthodox world. At the end of January in local parish church of the Protection of Theotokos, suddenly the icons have started weeping.

The religious situation in Belarus:

In Belarus, by January of this year, 1315 Orthodox communities (1092temples), on the second place Protestants- 983 among which only Pentacosts - 482, bypassed on this parameter the second on "historicity" Catholic Church (433 communities) are registered.

At the Royal Doors:

The Royal Doors is only occasionally open for us... But it's open, and it reminds us, that nevertheless the Lord is among us, that nevertheless there is the Church, seen or invisible, collected or absent-minded, but she is and testifies to the Lord. If this not so our life is vain.
